• Graphic depictions of violence.

  • Various fights end with Lauren bleeding and battered.

• Child endangerment:

  • Trevor, seven, is kidnapped. He escapes when his kidnapper is killed by a hungry mountain that then hunts him across a frigid mountain until his mother finds him.

  • He is also along for the ride when Nona and Lauren are being chased by Gierdes, when the Gierdes catch up and intend to kill them all. In the end, he isn’t injured.

• References to domestic abuse.

  • Nona’s ex-husband was - still is - emotionally abusive, and she has yet to overcome it.

  • Lauren was emotionally abused by her previous partner.

• Homophobia and biphobia.

  • Memories revisited by Nona of her ex-husband’s reaction to her coming out bi/pan and her fear of coming out to Lauren.
